There are many downhill opportunities in the valley, but also a wide selection of trails for those who want to cover the kilometers. Mount Washington Valley is, as you might expect from Mount Washington, a mountain that has nothing to prove but its name. The 6,288-foot peak is the highest peak in the Northeast, and winter guests can bring their winter guest to the summit. Mount Washington was a stagecoach stop on the road between Louisville and Bardstown in the early 19th century, and there are also a few shops I mentioned in Shepherdsville, where this road intersects with Bardtown Road. The road is now Highway 44, but it used to be Bardstown Road as it is today, so there are also the Mount Washington Hotel and Mt. Washington Mountain Lodge.
